For your consideration is this somewhat rare Acoustic Research AR 77 XB turntable base (no tonearm or dustcover). The AR 77 XB was a bit of a transitional model, the last of the original AR turntable line, and a predecessor to the EB1 and 'the AR turntable'. It's an update of the AR-XB and 77 denotes the year it was made. It is somewhat of a rare bird as it was not produced in high numbers. This unit is in good cosmetic condition, with no significant flaws other than a screw hole at the back of the plinth (possibly where the dustcover was mounted? not sure). Includes the original plinth, motor, platter and sub platter. It does come with a belt but it is a bit stretched, so it may benefit from a replacement belt. Please refer to the pictures for the exact condition as they are part of the description. Motor works and operates quietly. Seems to hold constant and accurate speed. Check out the turntable in action . While speed seems just a tad fast, note that the video was shot without the main platter, which theoretically would add some weight and decrease the speed. Also, as mentioned the belt is a bit stretched, so that can contribute too. Due to the vintage nature of the turntable and the fact that it needs some work to make it complete, it is being sold as is, no returns. Quoted shipping price only applies to lower 48 states . If located outside the continental US, please contact me before bidding. For buyers outside the US, I encourage the use of eBay Global, although please note that additional fees may apply . The turntable will be carefully packed, double boxed and surrounded with foam to ensure safe arrival to its destination. Main platter will be removed and subplatter lifted to prevent damage to the bearing, which means that some minor assembly will be required. The transport screw will be bolted in to prevent the subchassis from bouncing around. Take a look at my feedback and bid with confidence. Local pick up is welcome in the Rochester, NY area. Thanks for looking!
